Unity High School

The Boys’ Cross Country team placed second at Tuscola this past Saturday. There were 5 runners that ran lifetime bests on a tough course. Eli Crowe, Camden Fairbanks, Carter Tiemann, JD Wells, and Caleb Coy. Eli placed 5th in a strong field with a time of 16:24 while Camden Fairbanks ran a 16:38 and placed 15th. The boys will be racing again Saturday at SJO at 9am.

The Girls’ Cross Country team won the Tuscola Classic on Saturday with top finisher Mackenzie Pound taking 3rd and Erica Woodard close in 4th. Emily Decker and Olivia Shike were also top 10 finishers in 6th and 7th. Ashlyn Denney rounded out the Rocket scoring in 14th for a team total of 27 points over Clinton. Raegan Stringer and Camryn Reedy also placed high for the Rockets in 15th and 16th in the 136 runner field. The team will compete again on Saturday at the Spartan Classic in St Joe at 9 AM. Come cheer on the Rockets to another victory!

Congratulations to the UHS Girls Cross Country team on their 1st Place finish at the First to the Finish Invitational at Detweiler Park in Peoria this past weekend. This is one of the largest races in the state, and our runners dominated the field. Go Rockets!

Tonight’s game is the WCIA Game of the Week, where there will be a competition of a different sort before and during the game. It is our week to give toward the Eastern IL Food Bank’s Tackle Hunger campaign. Unity Athletic Boosters will have Unity apparel for sale tonight at the fall sports kick off. The apparel table will be located near the west concession stand. Unity Athletic Boosters is selling 2023-2024 season passes. A pass will get you into all Unity High School and Unity Junior High football (not JFL), volleyball, basketball and wrestling home games. This does not cover tournaments or IHSA events. Family Pass: $100 - all members of your household will receive their own pass. Individual Pass: $45 You can purchase a pass at the Fall Sports Kickoff this Friday evening (at the apparel table), at any football game, or by contacting Anne Watson at 217-493-6748. Did you know: If you live within Unity School district and are 63+ years old you can get a free lifetime athletic pass from the Unit 7 Office.
