Our character education throughout the year is framed as the “Rocket R’s.” Each quarter students are learning about being Respectful, Responsible, & Resilient. Last week, one student from each class was recognized as having demonstrated excellent character at school during the first quarter.

Congratulations to our 1st Quarter SOAR Award winners:

  • Kindergarten: Conrad Weller
  • 1st: Cooper Farney, Sutton Laurent, & Jaci Shride
  • 2nd: Xander LeForge & Kensley Bear
  • 3rd: Ryker Kammin & McKenna Lewis
  • 4th: Logan Nasser & Conor Zumbahlen
  • 5th: Lena Guild Borchers & Harper Causey

As weather gets colder, please be sure to send your child with the necessary cold-weather gear to play outside. Temperatures and wind are often harsh on our prairie.

Wednesday, October 19 is Unity Day - a day dedicated to uniting for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Be a part of this expression of solidarity across Unit Seven by wearing orange and showing kindness to everyone around you. District activities are planned for after school at the main campus - see the school website for more information.

Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Thursday, October 20, from 3:00-9:30pm. Sign-up links were emailed out and are posted on the school website.

If you are dressing up for Halloween this year, parents can take a picture of students wearing their costumes and send it to eastphotos@unitsevenschools.com with a subject line containing the student’s name. Students will not wear costumes at school or at our fall parties, but we will be sharing a picture slideshow on the big TV in the hallway. Please send pictures no later than 3:00pm on Tuesday, November 1st to be included.

On Friday, November 11, Unity East will host our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon & Veterans Day Program. All senior citizens and veterans are welcome to attend our luncheon at 12:05pm, followed by our Veterans Day Program at 1:00pm. Guests are encouraged to call the school to RSVP.

Save the date for our Kindergarten & 1st Grade music concert on Tuesday, December 13, followed by our  2nd & 3rd Grade music concert on Wednesday, December 14.

East has received several generous donations we want to recognize. A special thank you to the Sidney Improvement Group for a $2,500 donation to our Rocket Pack Program; Sidney United Church Women’s Fellowship for a donation toward school supplies; Sidney Christian Church for a school supply drive, and an anonymous family who donated toward lunch account balances of our students. We are truly grateful for the support of our community!

In Partnership,

Mr. Carver, Principal
