East Update: 3rd Quarter News
  1. The Unity East Girls on the Run team has been invited to make a special presentation to the Unit 7 School Board on Wednesday, January 15. We’re proud of our team and the success of their first season!

  2. Unity East is holding a Read-a-thon event to both encourage students to pick up a good book as well as raise support for student and family events at the school. For two weeks, we will be dedicating time each day at school for students to participate in a special reading session with their class and encouraging them to do additional reading at home. Information about the program will be sent home ahead of our start date on January 31. You could consider setting a reading goal for your student or have a family reading time during this event!

  3. Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, February 13, from 3:00-9:30pm. Sign-ups will be emailed and posted on the East website on January 17. You can also sign up by contacting the school office.

  4. Spring Pictures are scheduled for Thursday, March 12. Additional information and picture packets will be sent home closer to the date.

  5. Students in grades 3-5 will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness the week of March 30. We ask that appointments and absences for students be limited as much as possible this week.

  6. Special thanks to the East PTO for covering the cost of our annual roller-skating unit. Students in grades 2-5 are currently enjoying this during PE classes. This and many more events we enjoy at East are made possible by our PTO and the fundraiser support of our families. Thank you!

  7. Spread the word - Kindergarten Orientation Night will be held at Unity East on Monday, April 6 from 6-7pm. Meet our Kindergarten teachers, tour classrooms, and find out how you can help your child prepare for his or her first day as a Unity Rocket! Kindergarten is open to students turning 5 by Sept. 1, 2020.

  8. Our 3rd-quarter character education focus is to Respect Others. We will cover four themes for two weeks each: The Golden Rule, Using Good Manners, Keeping Others Safe, & Respecting Differences. Be sure to ask your child what they are learning on this topic.

  9. Rocket Fridays: Each Friday, Unity East celebrates school spirit by wearing Rockets gear. You can view many pictures of students showing school spirit on our main hallway bulletin board!

  10. Do you have the Unity Rockets app? Our school app is available for download in the Apple and Google Play stores under the name “Unit Seven Schools.”
