 Year Course – 1.0 credit – 9 –10 grades
*Required for Graduation
The emphasis of the course is two fold:  geography and cultures of the world.  This course acquaints students with the world-- its history and cultures.
Students are encouraged to celebrate the diversity in our world through the study of countries as well as how they relate to the United States.
 In addition,  the future outlook and problems of  the countries in the world and  the United States impact on each other  is explored.

 

Projects/Activities:

  • Family tree and short paper exploring their cultural diversity
  • Interactive research of  individual countries presented to class
  • exploring our daily planet to understand weather/climate
  • variety of short papers exploring students' opinions on current issues
  • planning a vacation package as a team
  • speakers/video interviews/guided tours
  • exploration of nature/countries  through the arts/photographs/artifacts/food
