The 2005 WYSE team had tremendous success this year.  Team members included Brian Barnes, Brandon Billman, Matthew Butler, Lauren Conlon, Dustin Hadden, Clay Harden, Matthew Herriott, Kelsey Hieke, Kurt Maske, Chris Miller, Nathaniel Ryckman, Meghan Schultze, and Samantha Woodworth.

In February the team placed 1st in Division 700 schools at the Regional competition held at Parkland College and also won several individual medals.  Placing third in physics was Clay Harden.  Second place finishers were Kelsey Hieke in biology, Dustin Hadden in math, and Nathaniel Ryckman in computer science.  Taking first place finishes were Brian Barnes in biology, Chris Miller in chemistry, Sam Woodworth in English, Kurt Maske in computer science, and Dustin Hadden in Physics.

In March the team competed at the Sectional competition held at Eastern Illinois University.  Dustin Hadden placed 1st in both physics and mathematics.  He advanced to the State competition.

On April 13, Dustin place 1st in physics and 4th in mathematics at the state competition.  This is the highest place finish ever achieved by a student at Unity High School.

All team members should be proud of their accomplishments.  While WYSE is a competition that allows for individual advancement, it takes an entire team and all of their scores to advance the team. The accomplishments of the WYSE Academic Challenge team reflect well upon the students, parents, faculty, school, and communities of this district.

            Congratulations on an excellent season!
