To the Parents of ________________________________,

I am very pleased to have your student in my Physics class this semester.  I am looking forward to getting to know their unique personality and learning style.  Your student should have brought home some information for you to look over and sign.  It contained the classroom, behavior, and course expectations that will apply to your student.  Please bring any questions or concerns you have to my attention.

We will be covering most of the material in the book.  Please be sure and ask your student questions about their homework and labs.  Students are expected to keep up on their assignments and do their homework everyday.  It would help if you could have an area at home where they can work on homework.

Students will usually be given some class time to start on their homework and ask questions.  If your student has difficulties with the material, please encourage them to seek help immediately.  Physics is a subject that can prove very challenging.  I am available to assist your student before school and after school.  Please encourage them to come in for assistance.

Students will also have at least one project to complete each quarter.  These projects will involve designing and testing various apparatus.  While the theory and principles behind their projects will be discussed in class, the majority of the work will take place outside the classroom.  You may want to periodically ask them about their current project.

I do not expect to have any discipline problems in class, but if they occur I will explain to your student their inappropriate behavior and try to resolve the problem with them.  If the problem continues, I may need to contact you for your help.  Please support me if I should have to contact you because it is important that your student follow the classroom expectations in order to ensure the best learning opportunity for themselves and others.

Grades will be mailed to you every midterm and quarter, however if you would like to inquire as to your child's grade or progress in the course, please feel free to contact me by any of the methods listed below.  Communication is essential.  I am looking forward to this school year and the privilege of teaching your child.

                                                                                                            Sincerely,
