Tonya Ayers

"Ms. Ayers was born and raised in the Royal area. She graduated from St. Joseph-Ogden High School. She married and moved to Rantoul, and now has three sons - Kyle, Matthew and Kendall. She is once again living in the Royal area.  She graduated from Parkland in December 2008 with a degree in Business Administration. Ms. Ayers works full-time at the University of Illinois in the Physics Department as an Office Manager in High Energy Physics.

Ms. Ayers has a strong musical background. She started playing clarinet in grade school, bari and tenor sax in high school. Having married a percussionist, she picked up a few drumming skills. She can also be seen on rare occasions playing flute in church. Ms. Ayers is currently the director for the adult handbell and children's chime choirs, and sings with the adult choir at her church.

After being a part of her high school color guard for four years (captain for two), Ms. Ayers started teaching flags in 1990 and has taught both high school and drum corps color guards.

There are currently 18 members of the Unity Rocket Color Guard, ranging from 8th to 12th grades. In the spring, we will hold auditions for Fall 2012 which will be open to current 7th through 11th grades."
