Solo & Ensemble
Contest
Every year our musicians have the
opportunity to prepare performance for Solo & Ensemble
Contest. Students prepare to play solos (individual performance)
and ensembles (small group preformances).
Students will then perform the music prepared for a judge who evaluates
the music they have perpared.
The students receive a rating of: I Superior, II Excellent, III Good,
IV Fair or V Poor.
The judge fills out a sheet for each performance with criticism and
compliments.
The judges evaluation is the most important part of the performance.
This evaluation helps the student improve as a musician.
Student Musicians are responsible for arranging for their own
accompanists.
The
exception to this is our 6th grade participants.
The
Director will find accompanists for students.
Student Musicians are responsible for the preparation of their events.
Student Musicians are responsible for arranging time to rehearse with
their director.
Student Musicians are responsible for being on time for their event.
If the student musician is unprepared for the performance the director
may cancel the event.
Solo & Ensemble
performance improves the work of the individual musician!
Not every student is
comfortable for solo performance but all students are capable of
ensemble work.
