Color
Guard

The Guard is an extra- curricular activity that
performs with the band for marching performance events. The Guard
uses the design of their flag, uniform selection, and body movement to
provide the music performance with color and interest.

Tonya
Ayers is the Color Guard Instructor at Unity High School. Tonya designs
the flag choreography, the flag work, teaches the flag work and
rehearses the Color Guard during the summer marching band week and
every Tuesday through the football season. She also selects and
designs all flags for our show.

We now have 8 members in the Color
Guard and this year we will use flats to disguise the flag changes in
the show. At our home competition "Collage 2009" the Guard tied
two color guards in the field of six bands for the highest score in the
contest.

Watch as the Guard adds new things to
each routine every performance. This year we have 5 separate flag
sets and will change "silks" (flags) 4 times during the show. The
color and pattern of each silk are applied to reflect the mood and
character of each selection.
