Unity High School
Drum Line

New in 2006, the Unity Drum Line is an extra-curricular activity that allows the student musician to explore music in a marching drum line ensemble.  The activity is open to all high school students and select junior high school students by invitation.  This ensemble was the foundation in our move toward a marching band.  At present the drum line performs as a standing ensemble at concerts and home football games.  They perform with the pep band and as an independent ensemble.

Audition:
All high school students are welcome but all new students need to audition in order to assign the student to the correct instrument.  Students will perform on snare drum, quint toms, bass drums, cymbals, timpani, mallets and bass guitar.  Students are required to attend one after school rehearsal per week.

Assignments: Students are assigned to their instrument by ability not age.  It may become necessary to change an assignment to create a balanced ensemble.  This will be at the discretion of the instructor.

Performance:
Students are expected to perform with a high level of maturity, control and musicianship.  This ensemble is an advanced level group and it is important that members maintain proper behavior.
