STUDY GUIDE FOR ROMEO AND JULIET TEST

1.  Matching characters to important things about them

It would be helpful to go over the character sheet we filled out, but there are also items that

you should know from reading and discussing the play in class.

2.  Matching vocabulary words to their definitions

The following 20 words are the ones that I will have on the test; they are from the

vocabulary sheets we used in class.  The words and definitions are in your notebook.

gallant     exile     beguile     abhor     mantle     fickle     infinite     brine     chide

waver     beseech     lamentable     feign     shrift     gossamers     pernicious     fray

    nuptial     visor     profane

3.  Quotes

The quotes are taken from the quote sheets that we filled out in class.  They are in your

      notebook.

4.  Multiple choice questions on the content of the play

These are the same questions as the short answer questions on the quizzes at the end of each

act of the play.  They are in your notebook.

5.  You will write a paragraph on your choice of these two topics. The paragraph must be at

least 8 sentences long.  It must have a topic sentence, examples and details to support the

topic sentence, and a concluding sentence.  Grammar and sentence structure will also be

      considered in the grade.

Who Is Responsible for Juliet’s Death?

                            or

The prince ends the story by saying,

“Never was there a story of such woe

as this of Juliet and her Romeo.”

Explain the things that make this story so sad.
