Freshmen English students are required to read 8 points worth of books per quarter.  Each Accelerated Reader book has an assigned point value. You may read one book or a number of books to accumulate the 8 points.  We have a wide variety of books at all reading levels.  Please rely on Mrs. Myers or me for suggestions in selecting titles if you are not sure what would be best for you to read.

This outside reading is considered a 50 point assignment.  If you read books totaling 18 points or more, you will receive 10 points extra credit.

To receive any AR points you must pass the test.  If you are taking a 10 point quiz, passing is 60%.  If you are taking a 20 point quiz, passing is 70%.

To take a test you must have the book with you even if it is your own book or you got it from another library.  You may not take anything with you to the computer.  Mrs. Myers or I must sign the test when you take it.  Then you must give it to me so that I can record your grade.

You may take only one test per day.  You may not take the same test twice.

You will lose 5 of your 50 Accelerated Reader points if you do not have your book with you on an assigned AR reading day.

The Accelerated Reader points are due about one week before the end of each quarter.,
