Zone Safety
Unity High School is
introducing a new concept to start the 2011 2012 school year.
Unity Crimestopper Safe Schools Program is being instituted in an
effort to ensure students have a safe environment for studying and
learning.
What
is Unity Crimestopper Safe School Program
Unity Crimestopper is a program to get students
involved in keeping their school safe.
Unity Crimestopper's main goal is to solve and PREVENT serious crimes
by providing students with rewards and/or incentives for information
concerning crimes on campus. We believe students, themselves, are
the best tool in keeping schools safe.
Kids today are faced with many dangers, dating violence, internet
predators, bullying, drugs, underage drinking, and more. Unity
strives to give students access to people and services that can make
them safe from all kinds of threats.
How the program works
A student with information concerning a crime that has occurred, or may
occur, contacts the Crimestopper program, (using the secure e-mail link
on the left side of this page) and submits relevant information via
e-mail. The anonymous student is then given a Crimestopper code
number in a return e-mail. The information is then passed along
to school administration and possibly law enforcement for follow
up. If the information provided prevents a crime or leads to an
arrest, disciplinary action, or the recovery of property, the student
receives a reward. Contact will be returned via e-mail.
A successful Crimestopper program will reduce violence,
criminalization, and victimization of the student population by
encouraging students to report incidents and threats of violence.
It promotes pride and responsibility and allows students to play an
active role in their own safety.
