Dr. W. Max Rexroad, Class of 1959, graduated with
B. S. with
honors, MAS and Ph.D. in Accountancy from University
of Illinois. He was a
teaching
assistant at the University
of Illinois
for five years. Dr. Rexroad was a professor at Illinois
State University
from 1969-2003 where he taught both undergraduate and graduate courses
in
accounting and auditing. He was a
faculty intern at State Farm Insurance Companies and Price Waterhouse,
CPAs. . His teaching awards include College
of Business Outstanding Teacher
of
the Year Award, and he was selected three times as the Accounting
Teacher of
the Year by the Student Accounting Society.
He also received awards for Outstanding Faculty Performance in
Scholarly
Productivity and Outstanding Faculty Performance for Service. Dr. Rexroad served as President of both the
Central Illinois Chapter of the International Institute of Internal
Auditors
and the Central Chapter of the Illinois CPA Society.
He served as Chairman of the Illinois
Teachers Conference for 15 years. Dr.
Rexroad was recognized for his outstanding teaching and service to the
profession by the Illinois Society of CPAs. He was a member of several
state
and national accounting organizations and societies including the
National
Association of State Boards of Accountancy where he served as Regional
Director. He served as
Director of the
Internship Program and Director of Accounting Graduate Programs. Dr. Rexroad has coauthored several articles
dealing with fraud deterrence, detection, and investigation. Dr. Rexroad served as a member of the
Editorial Review Board for Forensic Accounting.
